welcome to

Ottawa Makers Market is not your nana’s craft fair – we are a collaborative community of makers, artists and small businesses in Ottawa that get together on a regular basis throughout the year to sell our goods to the public, all while giving back to the community. We offer a low-risk table fee to new businesses and we donate 50% of all door proceeds to a local charity each market.

Some of the organizations we have been fortunate enough to contribute to include FOR PIVOTS SAKE
Harmony House Women’s Shelter
and the Ten Oaks Project

Welcome! We (Jess & Jenna) were both born and raised in Ottawa. We met in university and became fast friends, and after graduating in our respective fields (Jenna in International Development and Jess in Sociology) and feeling uninspired with our career options, we decided to start our floral design business, L’Orangerie Floral Design. With a combined 10 years of floral design and botany knowledge and experience between us, it was a perfect avenue to explore our creativity and do something we love. The only problem: where to sell? This is where the idea for OMM came about. We wanted to create something that Ottawa was lacking – a true community of supportive makers in the same stage of starting their businesses. Starting a business is a daunting and risky thing, and having supportive people around you makes all the difference. We have both had a passion for supporting local business and the Ottawa community as a whole for as long as we can remember, so OMM has been a complete dream for us. We can’t wait to see what the future brings for both of our businesses! We both currently hold separate, full-time positions outside of L’Orangerie and OMM, so we are a couple of busy ladies! If you’d like to get into contact with us, send us an e-mail and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.

I’m a graduate of Carleton University with an Honours degree in Sociology and a minor in History. I am obsessed with European history, horror movies, Sailor Moon and (of course) floral design! On my days off you can find me binge watching Netflix with my cat, dog and (soon-to-be) husband Ben, or heading out to the country for a little bit of zen.
OMM is less of a job and more of a really fun (and challenging) hobby to me, and I love connecting with all of the creative, entrepreneurial and inspiring makers and artists here in Ottawa!

Co-Founder & Coordinator

I am an Ottawa native with roots in the maritimes - and a grandmother trapped in a 25-year-old's body.
You can find me drinking tea, studying botany, reading, and playing with flowers.
I love connecting with other makers, come say hi!

We are a maker-based market that offers something different to the Ottawa community. We evaluate the appropriateness of vendors based on the following criteria: scope and size (are you a small business? Great! Are you a new local business? Even better!); the types of products sold (Do you sell something we can’t find elsewhere? Do you have a unique business philosophy? Do you give back to the Ottawa community in some way? Are your goods just really cool?); and if vendors make or create their own goods in some way (repurposing old stuff, curating and reselling antiques, drawing, designing, painting, sculpting, etc.). Note that approval of vendors is at the discretion of the coordinators, and email submissions will not be considered.

**N.B. Only successful vendor applications will be contacted via email, at which point the vendor fee should be sent to secure your spot.
